The Real Time Vision and Image Processing (RTVIP) Laboratory is located in GLE-3495 in the Department of Computer Engineering at RIT. Research in the RTVIP Lab focuses on the areas of computer vision, image understanding and real time implementations of related algorithms. We develop new methods for object detection and tracking, facial recognition and understanding, pose estimation, human activity and expression recognition, medical imaging, assistive technologies, and mobile computing. Techniques are based on image modeling, feature extraction, pattern classification algorithms, and high performance implementations. Faculty: Drs. Andreas Savakis and Juan Cockburn.
