PMI College Relations - RIT Student Competition
Update from College Relations Officer - Amy Valente, PMP
The Rochester chapter is committed to student involvement in our
chapter to groom our project managers of the future. One of the
goals of the Rochester Chapter is to increase student involvement
in PMI®. A student competition event was held at RIT in February
2005 for those students currently taking a Project Management class.
As part of their curriculum, students were required to complete
a team project. This project involved selecting a "real world"
project, analyzing it, and presenting their findings at the end
of the quarter. This quarters event featured 14 student teams
who presented to our PMI rating committee. The PMI rating committee
watched the presentations, rated each student team, and selected
the best overall student team for the quarter.
We are pleased to congratulate the first place winners of the Winter
2005 quarter from the College of Engineering:
Annalis Hall, Sarah McManus, Christopher Rees, John Spalding
They evaluated a project from Bausch and Lomb and did an outstanding
job in the analysis and presentation. The first place team was presented
with a trophy that will be displayed in the College of Engineering.
PMI would like to thank Chuck Koster and Tom Bachmann, professors
at RIT, who helped make this event possible. The PMI Board of Directors
would also like to thank the PMI volunteers who judged the student
presentations: Cathy Dinoto, Daniel Morris, Barbara Stoner, Charles
Hall, Jill Saehloff and Heidi Mook.
This winning student team is invited to present their team project
at our June special event, being held on June 15 at the Newport
House.
Stay tuned for more information on this event.
