Abstract
Activities all over the globe impinge the natural habitat and accumulate
in their large numbers resulting in global consequences. The global
warming and pollution are realities that pertain to the whole earth.
Large corporations and their activities are the leaders in the destruction
of the environment. While there are no politics and ideologies to
drive how corporations treat the environment, the profitability
of such practices can be the incentive to start saving our only
physical environment. The topic under investigation is the analysis
of methods that allow corporations to be profitable while complying
with environmentally friendly practices. To illustrate the effectiveness
of those practices a number of cases will be discussed where business
decisions involving environmental factors were successfully precisely
because of the environmental factors considered. The paper will
discuss the environmental friendliness of corporations in general
terms, and what are the implications of such considerations not
on short term profitablity but also on long term existence.
