Melanie
and Jason Smith
Walt Disney World Resort
Melanie and Jason Smith are graduates of the ISE Class of 2000
and both work at one of the happiest places on earth - the Walt
Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Melanie is a Senior Labor
Manager responsible for applying analytical tools and methods to
ensure that staffing is planned to efficiently maintain guest service
standards. She has provided labor-planning support to the Magic
Kingdom, Disney's Animal Kingdom, and the Entertainment line of
business. Jason started with Walt Disney World Resort as a co-op
in the Industrial Engineering department, and is currently a Project
Manager on that team. Jason has provided industrial engineering
support to Disney Cruise Line, Disney's Animal Kingdom, and global
Park Operations. He is currently responsible for attraction capacity
planning and new attraction development.
In the summer of 2005, Melanie and Jason had the opportunity to
work in Hong Kong, supporting the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland.
They participated as members of the Grand Opening Task Force that
was responsible for training the new Hong Kong Cast Members and
preparing the resort for a successful opening. Melanie and Jason
currently reside in Tokyo, Japan where Jason is completing a one-year
assignment to share industrial engineering methodologies with the
Tokyo Disney Resort team. They both credit the ISE department not
only for their relationship but also for preparing them to succeed
in their "roles in the show" at the Walt Disney World
Resort!
