Message from the Chair
Welcome! This is an exciting time to be in ISE at
RIT! Our undergraduate program continues to strengthen its national
reputation as a leader in providing career-focused education, where
our students "learn-by-doing" in our state-of-the-art
facilities and laboratories and through their cooperative education
experiences. We are proud of our top ten ranking in US News and
World Report (2003) for "Programs that Work". We have
also developed exciting new opportunities for our undergraduate
students, including a multidisciplinary senior design experience,
an honors program that focuses on "Product Development in the
Global Economy", and flexible dual
degree programs, program options, and minors.
In addition, to a Bachelor of Science degree in
Industrial Engineering, the department offers several graduate degree
programs to meet the diverse interests of students seeking to continue
their education in industrial engineering. Our faculty is engaged
in exciting applied research in the areas of manufacturing, ergonomics/biomechanics,
systems simulation, optimization, sustainable design, and advanced
systems integration/ information systems as the quality, enrollment,
and reputation of our graduate
programs continue to grow.
We pride ourselves on being a student-oriented department
that provides a high level of service to our students, through close
interaction with our committed faculty and staff. Our students continue
to be highly
marketable in today's competitive environment, being placed
in a wide array of fields, including manufacturing, service, distribution,
healthcare, banking, and entertainment industries.
