Message from the Chair

Welcome! The Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) Department at RIT is a vibrant community of faculty, students, and staff focused on continuing to provide a unique, student-focused educational environment based on innovative and integrated teaching and research. Our state-of-the-art facilities and labs provide a "hands-on and heads-in" career-focused environment that is complimented by nationally recognized multidisciplinary senior design and co-op experiences. We have a strong commitment to scholarship, and hope to inspire a shared vision for enhancing student educational environments.

We are proud of RIT's top ten ranking in US News and World Report for "Programs that Work", and offer a range of program options, minors, and dual degree programs. In addition to a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, the department offers several graduate degree programs to meet the diverse interests of students seeking to continue their education. We pride ourselves on being a student-oriented department that provides a high level of service to our students through close interaction with our committed and approachable faculty and staff. Our students continue to be highly marketable in today's competitive environment, being placed in a wide array of traditional and emerging fields.

Industrial and Systems Engineering is critical to socio-economic and socio-technical development. Our faculty engages in research in the areas of Advanced Manufacturing, Ergonomics and Human Factors, Operations Research/Logistics, Production Systems, Simulation, and Systems Engineering /Product Development. With applications related to energy and environment, healthcare, communications, and transportation, the productivity of our undergraduate and graduate research programs continues to grow.

Please browse the ISE website to learn more about our distinctive programs. If you need additional information on how to become involved in the department, I will be delighted to meet with you.
