The program format is flexible, allowing participants to shape the program to their specific needs.

Session I:

• Overview of ergonomics/human factors
• Anthropometry
• "Hands-on" anthropometric exercises
• Human physical work capabilities (physiology, biomechanics, fatigue)
• General workplace design
• "Hands-on" workplace design analysis
• Videotaping to analyze workplace
• Cumulative trauma disorders (CTD)
• Handtools
• Vision/Lighting
• Computer/VDT workstation design
• "Hands-on" CTD or VDT workstation analysis of problem from participants facilities

Session II:

• Human information processing
• Controls and displays
• Manual material handling (MMH) / NIOSH Lifting Guide
• "Hands-on" MMH analysis of problem from participants' facilities
• Potential ergonomics-related OSHA standards

Session III:

• Accident-injury analysis/Ergonomic needs assessment
• Ergonomic program development
• Ergonomic justification/Cost-benefit analysis
• "Hands-on" ergonomic program development exercise
