Aerostructures Lab

Aerostructures Lab

Location: 2255 Gleason
Facilitator: Dr. Kevin Kochersberger

Description/Projects:
The Aerostructures Laboratory is used to support the aerospace option in several ways. Supporting the aerostructures course are several experiments that explore stress and deflection of aircraft structures such as wings and landing gear. Instrumentation includes strain gage measurement systems, load cells and other equipment common in the aircraft industry.

The SAE Aerodesign team is headquartered in this lab, conducting meetings and building R.C. aircraft for the annual collegiate competition in Florida.

Finally, the lab is used for outside consulting on aerospace projects and also for senior design projects. Past project sponsors include The Luscombe Foundation, Renaissance Aircraft, Visionaire, The Wright Experience and the National Soaring Museum.
