2006 Emerging Leaders Award in Sales & Marketing

A Stacy Kalisz Johnson recognized at SWE's annual conference for demonstrated leadership in sales and marketing.

CHICAGO, Oct 11, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) today announced Stacy Kalisz Johnson as the recipient of SWE's 2006 Emerging Leaders Award for her demonstrated leadership in sales and marketing.

Stacy Kalisz Johnson is product marketing engineer for Agilent Technologies, and has recently joined a new product team performing similar functions. In her former role, Johnson coordinated research and development, marketing, applications and sales efforts to optimize SP50 solder paste inspection system sales. In addition, she assisted with content generation for publications, trade shows, newsletters, product training, and internal and external Web sites to provide high-impact internal and external marketing communications to build preference awareness for Agilent.

"Her accomplishments highlight the leadership opportunities for engineers in sales and marketing ."

Johnson has made significant contributions in areas of sales and marketing. She has increased system sales from 0 to 30 within 1.5 years, which has contributed to nearly $4 million in sales, with subsequent sales increasing to $7 million the following year. She is considered an expert in her field, publishing more than 15 articles on the subject of surface mount technology and electronic packaging. In addition, Johnson, who was a remote employee based in Phoenix, Ariz., worked effectively with R&D colleagues in Dublin, Ireland.

"Stacy is a high-energy team member who displays a high degree of enthusiasm, teamwork, accountability, results-orientation and leadership in her direct responsibilities, her representation of Agilent, and her contributions to the community at large," says Kent Dinkel, Imaging Marketing manager at Agilent Technologies.

Outside of the professional arena, Johnson is a leader within her community, in particular through the Girl Scouts. Johnson is a co-leader for local Troop 1860 as well financial manager and lead event planner. Johnson has incorporated her SWE membership into Girl Scouts by annually inviting the local SWE section to meet with her troop during Engineers Week, helping incorporate science experiments and engineering-related activities to teach the girls about engineering.

Johnson has remained very active with her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, and remains connected with her alma malter by serving on the Rochester Institute of Technology Alumnae Board of Directors. She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and the Surface Mount Technology Association.

Johnson received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, and a Master's certificate in program management from George Washington University.

The Emerging Leaders Awards honor women engineers who have demonstrated outstanding technical excellence as an individual resulting in significant accomplishments in the following areas: academia; manufacturing and construction; procurement/logistics; product research, design, and engineering; quality; safety, health and environment; and sales and marketing.

The 2006 Emerging Leaders Award will be formally presented Friday night, October 13, at the Society of Women Engineers' National Conference Achievement Award Banquet in Kansas City, Mo. The National Conference, "Women Blazing Technology Trails," is being held at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Mo., October 12-14. The more than 4,000 attendees include professionals from every discipline of the engineering profession and a large number of engineering students and educators. The 2007 conference is scheduled for October 25-27 in Nashville, Tenn.
