Lead Survivability Engineer C-130 AMP Program Boeing Space and Defense Caitlin Vanderbush Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, 2004 Caitlin Vanderbush finished her BS degree in mechanical engineering here at RIT in 2004, and recently met up with Dean Palmer at an alumni event in California, when she came out to cheer on our Formula Team. While she was an undergraduate, Caitlin was the Test and Ground Control Leader on the METEOR System Senior Design Project. Meteor is an RIT KGCOE project whose goal is to launch and place small payloads in low earth orbit. The project provides research opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students. With her background in mechanical engineering and on the METEOR project, Caitlin was hired to work as a survivability engineer on the US Air Force C-130 aircraft manufactured by Boeing. Her job was to create a 3D model of the aircraft to determine how well the new and improved aircraft design could withstand external threats. In less than two years after leaving RIT, Caitlin has been named the Lead Survivability Engineer on the C-130. In her letter to Dean Palmer, Caitlin relates:
