Detroit
October 1999
The students in Class I took their first business trip Detroit to meet with senior managers from Ford and Chrysler. Presentations and discussions covered product development processes, systems dynamics applied to product development, proactive design for quality, distributed design and design tools, rapid prototyping, and supplier perspectives. The class also toured Ford's pilot plant where prototypes, development vehicles, and show cars are manufactured. Students from RIT and UDM shared a class in Systems Architecture and had the opportunity for offline discussions and dinner, together with faculty from both schools.
