Mechanical Engineering
Co-op: Delphi Corp.
“I was originally thinking I would pursue a career in aerospace
engineering with my RIT mechanical engineering degree. But over time,
I wasn’t sure of what I wanted to do. Then a friend of mine introduced
me to RIT’s automotive engineering option, and I landed a co-op
with Delphi Automotive in Rochester.
“During winter quarter of 2002, I co-oped as an applications engineer
and worked on a correlation project with fuel rail and fuel injector testing.
I analyzed data, drew my own conclusions, and made recommendations for
improved testing procedures. The project was something that could be used
as a model procedure for other areas within the company. When they offered me a permanent full-time
job before my co-op job was over, I was shocked and extremely happy.”
