Outreach ProgramsThe RIT department of Microelectronic Engineering hosts workshops, short courses for high school teachers, and K-12 field trips in its effort to publicize and generate interest in its activities. For example, a group of students from Middle School at Pittsford, NY under Mr. Robert Rountree (RET), have learned about the microlithography technique at RIT microelectronic laboratories. The activity was part of an NSF funded summer Nanocamp. For more information you can visit Middle School Nanoscience A plan will be developed to include nanotechnology and MEMS in this outreach. The program will be advertised to the surrounding area community colleges to attract transfer students. Specific plans will be deliberated by the planning committee and the office of student services to explore access of the program to minority population.
