In an effort to establish a mentoring and support network for faculty, the provost recently appointed professors Margaret Bailey and Chance Glenn as Faculty Associates for Female Faculty and African American, Latino American and Native Americans, respectively. They assumed the new roles in January. Both professors bring a strong background of scholarship in their respective disciplines as well as advocacy in areas of diversity and inclusion.
Bailey, professor of mechanical engineering in the Kate Gleason College of Engineering, will serve a “complementary role” to her current research through the National Science Foundation institutional transformation grant called EFFORT@RIT. The grant is a three-year study where she and several faculty and staff have begun to understand best practices in retaining and advancing faculty.
