Bruce Smith is a leader in the field of semiconductor microlithography. He is recognized for his contributions that have lead to extensions of optical lithography for sub-wavelength resolution. Smith is an expert on optics, microlithography, photonics and semiconductor processing.

Smith has been a professor at Rochester Institute of Technology for 15 years. Prior to joining RIT, he held positions at Digital Equipment Corp. and AMI Semiconductor in IC development groups

Smith has been involved with several research projects in fields of microlithography with SEMATECH, SRC and numerous industrial organizations. He has published more than 50 technical papers, holds nine patents, authored several textbook chapters and is co-editor/author of a textbook on microlithography.

He is a member of OSA, SPIE, and AVS and acts on several organizing committees and chairs various conferences in the semiconductor and microlithography fields.

Smith has a Ph.D. in imaging science from Rochester Institute of Technology.
