John Ettlie is a professor and Benjamin Forman Chair for Research in RIT's E. Philip Saunders College of Business. He has published more than 60 journal articles and has made more than 100 professional presentations worldwide on the management of technological innovations. As founder of the RIT New Product Development Forum, he has established a collaborative with business partners intended to address applied research issues related to the strategic management of new product development.

His current research projects include an investigation of the adoption of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, a study of technology, reliability and customization of manufacturing products and the context of new product development.

Ettlie holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University (1975) and has held appointments at the University of Illinois in Chicago, De Paul University, the Industrial Technology Institute and the University of Michigan Business School.
