In response to growing community concerns over student health and safety,
RIT officials announced Feb. 12 the approval of a new student drug and
alcohol policy. The policy prohibits alcohol consumption in all RIT residence
halls, including Greek houses, even if the residents are over the legal
drinking age. Possession of alcoholic beverages is allowed in RIT apartment
complexes for those of legal age, but bulk containers, such as kegs or
beer balls, are prohibited. Alcoholic beverages are still available to
those over the age of 21 in the Student Alumni Union's Ritskeller and
at private parties held in the SAU served by RITFood Service or a college-approved
vendor.
