The College of Business is ready to welcome a new associate dean. Wayne Morse, chair of accounting and information services at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), has been appointed to that position. He assumes the role being vacated by Patricia Sorce, who has stepped down to take a sabbatical.

Morse has been instrumental in initiating graduate programs at UAH in accounting, information services and information security. At the undergraduate level, he helped establish an interdisciplinary program in computer-mediated communication, involving coursework in communications arts, graphic arts and information systems.

An author or co-author of more than 50 published works, Morse considers his most significant writings to be in the area of learning curves, human-resource accounting and quality costs. He is also a founding member of the management accounting section of the American Accounting Association.

Thomas Hopkins, dean, College of Business, sought input from members of a search committee before making his decision on a new associate dean. He says Morse was chosen from a particularly talented set of candidates.

"Wayne Morse brings to RIT an exceptional record of academic leadership," states Hopkins. "He has won numerous teaching awards and has been published extensively. We are fortunate indeed to gain his strengths."

Prior to joining UAH, Morse served on the faculties of the University of Illinois, Duke University, the University of Tennessee, and Clarkson University. He received his MBA from Cornell University and Ph.D. from Michigan State University.

Morse is expected to assume his new post July 1.
