World renowned photojournalist and advertising photographer Colin Finlay took this photo of Gaucho boys on the Pampas in Argentina, one of many images from Finlay’s new book, Testify. Finlay will give a free lecture at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Ingle Auditorium, Student Alumni Union. He will showcase his work as a photojournalist and discuss how he made the transition to lifestyle and advertising photography. As a photojournalist, Finlay has covered war, famine, environmental issues and religious pilgrimage. He has also photographed more than 40 advertising campaigns for some of the biggest ad agencies and clients throughout the world.

captionTwo RIT students captured first place in the 2006 Paperboard Packaging Alliance Student Design Challenge. Allison Bebee, a packaging science student, and Katie Palermo, a graphic design student, earned the honor with their design of a new package for sugar. “A big problem with sugar is that it comes in those flimsy paper packages,” Bebee says. “They are really difficult to pour from and nobody knows what to do with it after it’s opened.” Bebee and Palermo eliminated those problems with a milk carton-style, gable-top package that offers both fine and gross pouring capabilities.

A grrrreat welcome back to the RIT community
