Rahbari and student publish paper at IEEE INFOCOM
Geoff Twardokus, an electrical and computer engineering Ph.D. student, and his advisor, Hanif Rahbari, assistant professor of computing security, published “Vehicle-to-Nothing? Securing C-V2X Against Protocol-Aware DoS Attacks” in the IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications (INFOCOM) 2022. IEEE INFOCOM, held May 2-5, is a top conference in computer networks and wireless communications, according to Google Scholar. In the paper, the researchers exposed fundamental vulnerabilities with 5G vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication technology for safety applications. They also proposed security improvements and experimentally validated promising new detection techniques and mitigations for denial-of-service attacks they demonstrated.
