EMA Design Founder Named RIT Distinguished Alumnus

Emmanuel “Manny” Marcano Jr., of Henrietta, has been named a distinguished alumnus of Rochester Institute of Technology’s College of Applied Science and Technology.

A 1982 RIT graduate, Marcano is founder, president and chief executive officer of EMA Design Automation Inc., a provider of electronic design automation solutions, including software tools, consulting services, product training and technical support. Marcano received the award during RIT’s Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony on Feb. 3.

Marcano started EMA with his wife, Nancy, in 1989. The privately held firm, based in Henrietta, has been listed in the Rochester Top 100, sponsored by the Rochester Business Alliance and KPMG International. EMA currently employs 25 RIT graduates and co-op students.

A native of Central Islip, N.Y., and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Marcano earned a B.S. in electrical engineering technology from RIT. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Maryland. He and his wife have two grown children.
