Comedian Carlos Mencia to Perform at RIT, Jan. 27

Carlos Mencia of Comedy Central’s Mind of Mencia will perform at Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday, Jan. 27. The show in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center begins at 8 p.m. and is sponsored by RIT’s College Activities Board.

Mencia’s comedic style is unlike any other performer. Born in Honduras as the 17th of 18 children, he has a no-nonsense point of view and the ability to communicate clearly with large and diverse audiences. He has a proven track record of selling out multiple shows in 1,500 to 3,000 seat venues.

Mencia understands the life of students at RIT, as he himself majored in engineering at California State University, but he left to pursue a career in comedy while only one credit shy of graduating.

Doors open for the performance at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Gordon Field House ticket window. The show is $12 for students, $20 for faculty/staff/alumni, and $25 for the general public. Call 475-4121 for more information or to buy tickets by phone.
