RIT Presents Kabuki Dance Performance, Nov. 3

Japanese classical dance is the subject of a free lecture and performance at Rochester Institute of Technology Nov. 3.

The day of dance will begin with a lecture at 2 p.m. featuring associate professor Hiroko Yamashita of RIT’s foreign language department. At 7:30 p.m., Sachiyo Ito and Company will perform a demonstration of the dance in RIT’s Webb Auditorium.

Dr. Ito has taught at major colleges such as the Juilliard School and New York University since 1972. Her company is the only New York City-based Japanese dance company that performs and choreographs both Okinawan dance and Japanese classical (kabuki) dance.
