PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: RIT Hosts Take Back the Night, April 21

The majority of violence against women happens at night.

In an effort to empower women to reclaim the night, the Women’s Center at Rochester Institute of Technology will host its annual event, Take Back the Night, from 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 21.

Take Back the Night is an annual campus-wide event that fights violence against women and seeks to empower women to be unafraid of the night. This year’s event begins in the breezeway in front of Clark Gymnasium with a march around campus at 7 p.m.

It culminates with a rally at 8 pm. with speakers, poetry and a performance by the RIT women’s a cappella group, Encore. The event is free and open to the public.

For more information about violence against women and Take Back the Night, contact the RIT Women’s Center at 475-7464 or e-mail ritwom@rit.edu. The event is sponsored in part by the RIT Women’s Center and Student Health Center.
