Rochester Institute of Technology’s mini-Baja team competes in its fourth spring competition, the Midwest Mini Baja, this week in Wisconsin.

Unique to the Midwest competition is a tractor pull contest. More than 130 teams will be put to the test in that and other challenges, including acceleration, braking, endurance, hill climbing, maneuverability, top speed and traction. Competition is slated for June 3 to 6 at Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Jefferson, Wis., and Aztalan Motocross Track in Lake Mills, Wis., near Milwaukee.

Last month, RIT’s mini-Baja team captured fifth place in the Mini Baja East in Montreal. Earlier this spring, RIT earned fifth and sixth-place finishes in the Midwest Mini Baja in Portland, Ore., and a seventh-place finish in the Mini Baja Brazil in São Paulo.

RIT’s mini-Baja team is supported by the manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology/ packaging science department in the university’s College of Applied Science and Technology. The Midwest Mini Baja is sponsored by the Milwaukee Section of the Society of Automotive Engineers and Briggs & Stratton Corp.
