Glitz and Glamour Promised at “Puttin’ on the RITz” Dinner-Dance

The School of Hospitality and Service Management at Rochester Institute of Technology hosts its 19th annual “Puttin’ on the RITz” dinner-dance at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, at the RIT Inn & Conference Center, 5257 West Henrietta Road, Henrietta.

The gala, organized entirely by hospitality and service management students in the College of Applied Science and Technology, the college of innovation, features a “Simply Elegant” theme, a four-course meal and live music by Jon Seiger and the All-Stars.

Michael Murphy, vice president of sales and marketing for Renaissance Hotels and Resorts North America and an RIT alumnus, is honorary chairman for the event. “This year’s theme of ‘Simply Elegant’ will offer an outstanding culinary showcase and is certain to be a memorable event,” says Murphy. Rochester Police Chief Robert Duffy will be among dignitaries in attendance.

Following the dinner, the Drew Montecuollo Award will be presented to a student for commitment to excellence and diversity. The award is named in honor of an alumnus and former faculty member who was a role model for high standards, creativity, energy and professional success.

Proceeds from the event benefit the hospitality education fund for educational student travel, undergraduate and graduate awards, equipment and scholarships. For reservation information, contact Diane Sommers at 475-2608 or ritz_2004@hotmail.com.
