RIT Mini-Baja Team at Second Spring Competition

Provo, Utah hosts annual Mini Baja West contest ending Saturday

Rochester Institute of Technology’s mini-Baja team is racing in its second spring competition, the Mini Baja West, hosted by Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Competition began Thursday, May 8, and ends Saturday, May 10.

Last month at the Mini Baja East in Orlando, Florida, RIT earned seventh and 15th places overall among 49 teams. RIT captured first place for acceleration and scored top-10 finishes in endurance, sled-pull, suspension, top-speed and traction contests.

This week’s contest features more than 100 teams and a unique competition category—the "rock crawl" challenge.

RIT is racing two mini-Baja cars in the Mini Baja West and the Midwest Mini Baja next month in Troy, Ohio.

Competitions are sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers and Briggs & Stratton Corp.
