Take Back the Night, April 30

RIT rally and march help fight the abuse of women around the world

The majority of violence against women happens at night.

In an effort to empower women to reclaim the night, the Women’s Center at Rochester Institute of Technology will host its annual event, Take Back the Night, from 7 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30.

Take Back the Night is an annual campus-wide event that fights violence against women and seeks to empower women to be unafraid of the night. This year’s event includes a student rally with speakers, music, "Staged Sex" theatre troupe, and a community and campus organizations fair at the Ellingson, Peterson and Bell quad in front of the Hettie Shumway Commons. It culminates with a march around campus on Andrews Drive (the road that circles campus) led by drummers.
