RIT Students Strut Their Stuff at Homecoming, Jan. 6-12

It’s a kinder, gentler version of the hit TV show American Idol. Even the "British judge" finds good things to say. Rochester Institute of Technology’s Tiger Idol competition features plenty of talent and drama, but a little less criticism.

Tiger Idol is part of RIT’s homecoming celebration, Jan. 6-12, sponsored by Student Government. Sixteen students, culled from three nights of auditions in December, will compete in the finals on Jan. 8 for a $500 prize.

Here’s the lineup of activities open to the media:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 8, 8 p.m., Ingle Auditorium, SAU: Tiger Idol final competition.
  • Thursday, Jan. 9, 9 p.m., Clark Gymnasium: Midnight Madness event featuring cheerleaders, RIT Step, a comedian and a band.
  • Friday, Jan. 10, 8 p.m., SAU cafeteria: RIT Gay Alliance annual drag show.
