Sigma Alpha Mu, one of Rochester Institute of Technology’s fraternities, announces its eighth annual "Pole Sit" fundraiser. Pole Sit 2002 kicks off Sept. 3, and runs through 8 p.m., Sept. 6. SAM members will take turns sitting atop a 40-foot utility pole to raise $3,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization granting wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.

Rochester Gas & Electric helped install the pole midway along RIT’s Quarter Mile, between the residence halls and the Hale-Andrews Student Life Center.

Pole Sit 2002 is not only designed to raise money, but also welcomes new and returning RIT students to campus.
