Sept. 11 Day of Remembrance at Rochester Institute of Technology

RIT will honor Sept. 11 with "A Day of Remembrance." The following events will take place on RIT's campus.

  • 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Community gathering with wide screen television broadcast of the day's news coverage in Ingle auditorium.

  • 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Counseling available in room 2100 in the August Center.

  • 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.: The Interfaith Center Allen chapel will be open for anyone wishing to meditate, reflect or pray in a quiet setting.

  • 8:46 a.m. (the time of the first crash into the World Trade Center): Institutional minute of silence on campus.

  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: A gathering for silent expression, creating a graffiti banner to record thoughts, feelings and reflections in the Infinity Circle (rain location, SAU lobby and Fireside lounge).

  • 4 p.m.: A Day of Remembrance service will be held in Ingle Auditorium led by local religious leaders and staff of the Center for Religious Life. Dr. Jamie Campbell, retired RIT professor, will speak on "Building Monuments."
