More than 2,400 first-year students will converge at Rochester Institute of Technology to begin their welcome week of orientation, Thursday, Aug. 29, and Friday, Aug. 30. Classes begin Sept. 5.

Move-in week presents great photo opportunities, open to the media only. Featured move-in/orientation events include:

  • Freshman move-in, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 29, and Friday, Aug. 30: best locations are outside Nathaniel Rochester Hall; Baker, Colby, Gleason Quad; Ellingson, Peterson, Bell Quad; or Sol Heumann Hall.

  • Student team-building exercises, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, Clark Gymnasium.

  • Vegas night, 7 p.m. to midnight, Tuesday, Sept. 3, SAU cafeteria.

  • Convocation for New Students, 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, Clark Gymnasium, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Samuel Betances.
