Silent Auction Features Restaurant and Hotel-Getaway Packages

Got cabin fever? Want to get away from it all? Hospitality and service management students at Rochester Institute of Technology want to help.

An assortment of restaurant and hotel-getaway packages will go to the highest bidders in a first-of-its-kind online silent auction. Up for bid will be hotel-getaway packages from Batcheller Mansion Inn in Saratoga Springs, Comfort Inn in Gates, Del Monte Lodge in Pittsford, Four Points by Sheraton in Rochester, Hampton Inn and Suites in Victor, Homewood Suites in Henrietta, Holiday Inn in Gates, Hyatt Regency in Rochester, The Lodge at Woodcliff in Fairport, and Marriott in Greece.

The online bidding array also offers restaurant certificates from Big Tree Inn, Charlie’s Frog Pond, Daisy Flour Mill, Edwards Restaurant, FDR’s Restaurant, The Garlock House Restaurant, Mario’s Via Abruzzi, Red Osier Landmark Restaurant, Richardson’s Canal House and Sabrinas.

Bidding will run until April 16 at www.rit.edu/~ritz (then click on "Silent Auction"). The silent auction is a prelude to the 16th annual Puttin’ on the RITz dinner on Saturday, April 21, at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. This year’s dinner, presenting a "Paradise Cove" theme, will feature tropical dishes with Hawaiian and South American flairs.

Proceeds from the silent auction and dinner, both organized entirely by RIT hospitality and service management students, go to the hospitality education fund, which benefits equipment purchases, scholarships and education-related student travel.

Students in RIT’s 108-year-old hospitality and service management department train in a full-service, student-run restaurant using state-of-the-art equipment and laboratories.
