Students, faculty and staff at Rochester Institute of Technology are getting their first opportunity to personally congratulate the university’s new president.
On Friday, March 16, William Destler makes his first visit to RIT since accepting his new position, taking part in a reception in his honor. All members of the campus community are invited to attend from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. in the RITz Sports Zone, Student Alumni Union.
Destler formally becomes RIT’s ninth president on July 1, succeeding retiring president Albert Simone. Destler has spent his entire professional career—more than 30 years—at the University of Maryland, rising from the ranks of research associate and assistant professor of electrical engineering to senior vice president and provost, positions he has held since 2001.
