PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: RIT Fraternity Treks to Geneseo—in the Name of Charity

Triangle fraternity brothers to push a bed 23 miles to raise money for diabetes March 31

Rochester Institute of Technology’s chapter of Triangle fraternity will make the 23-mile trek from RIT to SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, March 31. They will do so by foot, pushing a bed, in whatever weather gets thrown their way.

More than 25 brothers will join 30 sisters from Geneseo’s Sigma Delta Tau sorority to push a custom-built bed on wheels down East River Road and Route 39 to raise money for the American Diabetes Association.

RIT President Al Simone will be among the supporters gathering at 11 a.m. in the Eastman Kodak Quad, which is adjacent to RIT’s Eastman Building, to cheer on the participants of the third annual Bed Push as it gets underway. The event will conclude when the group reaches Geneseo’s campus.

Last year’s Bed Push raised more than $2,500. This year, organizers have set a goal of raising $3,500. Those looking to make a donation can do so by check or PayPal. Checks can be made payable to American Diabetes Association and can be sent to Rob Dixon, 624 Charter’s Way, Rochester, NY, 14623. PayPal donations can be made by visiting www.trianglerit.net/bedpush.

Triangle is celebrating its centennial nationally, and it’s 40th year at RIT.
