Wolcott resident and Rochester Institute of Technology student Timothy Interlichia, a packaging science major, was one of eight students nationally to win a trip to Italy to visit the top Italian packaging companies this month.
The Italian Packaging Awards program, sponsored by the Italian Trade Commission, the Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association and the Institute of Packaging Professionals, awarded the trip based on essays written about technical innovations in packaging. Interlichia’s paper was titled, “Washing Away the Footprints of Progress: Bio-Based Polymers in Packaging Applications.”
RIT packaging science professor Dan Goodwin was selected as one of several national packaging science faculty members to join the winning students on the trip, which included tours and discussions with multiple machinery manufacturers in and around Milan and Bologna.
