Members of the New York State Assembly delegation, including Assemblymen Joseph Morelle and David Koon, will be at Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday, Aug. 3, to announce new funding that is included in the 2007-2008 state budget to support two key recommendations of the Roadmap for the Revitalization of Upstate New York Manufacturing, a comprehensive assessment of the challenges and opportunities for the manufacturing sector that was recently completed by RIT’s Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies.
The funding will be used by the center to assist companies in implementing new technologies into their production processes, enhance technical knowledge and improve overall competitiveness. The announcement will be followed by a roundtable discussion with regional manufacturing and economic development leaders and industry cluster representatives focusing on the findings of the roadmap study and the ways in which industry clusters might collaborate to strengthen upstate manufacturing and economic growth.
