RIT Hosts Annual Unity Fashion Show Feb. 2

Show is a collaboration between RIT students and Rochester youth

Rochester Institute of Technology’s AALANA (African American, Latino American and Native American) Collegiate Association will host its annual Unity Fashion Show…A Unique Mentoring Experience at 7 p.m. Feb. 2 in the Student Alumni Union cafeteria.

RIT students work in tandem with 15 middle and high school students from the Rochester area to produce the show. The experience is more than just a fashion show. Each middle and high school student is paired with an RIT student in a mentoring program that includes workshops, educational and cultural plays and college panels.

This year’s show will feature designs by Rochester resident Nathaniel Johnson and will conclude with a performance by this year’s celebrity guest, national recording artist Bobby Valentino.

Tickets, which are $10 for RIT students, $15 for other college students and $20 for the public, can be purchased by calling RIT’s North Star Center for Academic Success at (585) 475-4704.
