RIT Launches Major Festival and Announces Primary Sponsor, March 11

Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival to join the tradition of Rochester festivals

RIT President Bill Destler will formally announce the establishment of the Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival during a news conference at 2 p.m. March 11 in RIT’s Gordon Field House and Activities Center.

Destler will also unveil the festival’s premier sponsor.

Imagine RIT, which will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, May 3, on the RIT campus, will feature more than 400 interactive exhibits and displays. These will include new ideas for products and services, the creative arts, engineering design projects and unique performing arts productions. Several of those exhibits will be on display during the news conference, including:

  • Multitouch, a touch screen that allows users to paint and draw.
  • An Interactive Miniature Golf Hole that uses a laser to help line up your shot and where robots—not windmills—serve as an obstacle.
  • A Green Lung that helps clean the air.
  • RIT’s Formula racecar, which was designed and built by RIT students.

NOTE: Media kits will be distributed that include high-resolution Imagine RIT logos. Media parking will be available along the Gordon Field House and Activities Center by entering parking lot D. For more information, visit www.rit.edu/imagine.
