RIT’s Gallery r Hosts Four Day Exhibition, May 14-17

‘Words and Image’ features writers and artists

Gallery r, Rochester Institute of Technology’s student-run metro showcase for contemporary art on Park Avenue, is hosting a four-day exhibition called Words and Images. The show runs from Wednesday through Saturday, May 14-17.

The public is invited to a meet the artist reception from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16. The event will feature poetry sessions, including a reading by RIT student Whitney Gratton, who submitted a prize-winning poem—which was selected and read at RIT President Bill Destler’s inauguration last November.

Words and Images is a showcase of invitational film artists and Signatures magazine writers and artists. Signatures is an RIT publication, housed in the English department and supported by the Institute Creative Arts Fund, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, the B. Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, and Student Government.

Curator for the show is Professor John Roche, Language and Literature Department at RIT’s College of Liberal Arts, who is also faculty advisor of Signatures. Free copies of the magazine will be available at Gallery r during the exhibition.

Gallery r, 775 Park Ave., is open for this exhibition from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free and the gallery is handicapped-accessible. For information, call (585) 242-9470 or visit http://cias.rit.edu/~galleryr/.
