RIT Hosts National Hazing Prevention Week Programming

Greek student leaders invite Rochester area college students to participate

Rochester Institute of Technology’s Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is offering programming in support of National Hazing Prevention Week, which is a weeklong event celebrated on college campuses across the country. While the activities vary between institutions, the message is the same: stop hazing.

RIT is inviting all Rochester area campuses to attend its programming, which features a presentation and a panel discussion. “The Message is Simple: An Anti-hazing Presentation” will be shown at noon on Monday, Sept. 22, and Tuesday, Sept. 23, in RIT’s Student Alumni Union.

The panel discussion, “Oh! The Drama: Redefining Hazing” will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, in the Student Alumni Union’s Ingle Auditorium. The panel will discuss sports hazing, hazing in high schools, how hazing affects men and women differently and other effects of hazing practices.
