RIT Holds Fundraiser to Benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Oct. 24

Student group organizes a letter writing campaign to launch yearlong fundraising effort

Rochester Institute of Technology students are once again leading a campaign to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Up Til Dawn @ RIT, a student-run club, is hosting a “Life Saver Party” from 11 a.m. until midnight Friday, Oct. 24, in the Ritz Sports Zone, located in the lower level of RIT’s Student Alumni Union.

RIT students, faculty and staff are encouraged to join the party by writing 50 letters to family and friends, encouraging them to donate to the hospital. In the process, they’ll get to enjoy food, prizes and entertainment. Up Til Dawn’s yearlong efforts will culminate in the spring with an all-night party designed to celebrate its fundraising success.

The “Life Saver Party” will also include a chili cook-off competition in honor of Seth Policzer and Syed (Ali) Turab, two RIT students who were killed in an off-campus house fire last year. Policzer and Turab shared a passion for cooking great chili. The cook-off begins at 4 p.m.
