India and U.S. Science and Technology Cooperation Featured at RIT, Jan. 26

Arabinda Mitra, the executive director of Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum, is one of four representatives from the Indian Department of Science and Technology that will be visiting Rochester Institute of Technology.

Mitra will give a presentation entitled Indo-U.S. S&T Cooperation - Perspectives and Opportunities at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, in RIT’s B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences auditorium. This lecture is open to the public.

The four representatives of the Indian Department of Science and Technology will be visiting RIT at various times to tour the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science. The primary objective of their visits, which were initiated at their request, is to discuss some technical topics related to hyperspectral imaging and remote sensing. They also hope to explore possible joint research opportunities between India’s DS&T and RIT.

The three other representatives are Debapriya Dutta from the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C., Sanjiv Nair and Devendra Singh, both members of the Indian Department of Science and Technology.

The Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum was established under an agreement between the governments of India and the United States. It is an autonomous, not-for-profit society that promotes and catalyzes Indo-U.S. collaborations in science, technology, engineering and biomedical research through substantive interaction among government, academia and industry.
