RIT Hosts Winter Rail Jam for Skiers and Snowboarders, Feb 6

Participants to engage in free-style riding reminiscent of ‘X Games’

The heart of Rochester Institute of Technology’s campus will morph into a ski and snowboarding course Friday, Feb. 6. RIT’s Alpine Ski and Snowboard Club will host its annual Winter Rail Jam and Video Premiere from 3 p.m. until midnight on a hill between the Student Alumni Union and Wallace Library.

Several different rails and a jump will be set up for participants. Riding begins at 3 p.m. and will continue until 9 p.m. before the event moves into the Student Alumni Union for the premiere of three snow boarding movies. It costs $10 to ride. There is no cost to be a spectator or view the movies. The event is open to the public.

“Being able to ride in the middle of campus—without getting in trouble—is just a ton of fun,” says Bill Dwyer, a member of the Alpine Ski and Snowboard Club and one of the event’s organizers.

The event also serves as a fundraiser for the club.
