Free digital arts workshops at RIT are open to the public

The Rochester Artech 2009 Digital Art Exhibition promotes the expression of the arts through digital media and features pieces by high school and college students and amateur professional artists from across the Greater Rochester area. “Change” is this year’s theme and winning submissions will be showcased in a downtown festival of art and music at Rochester ArtAwake beginning March 27.

Prior to the event, Rochester Artech is offering a series of free interactive workshops taught by Rochester Institute of Technology faculty in topics such as Photoshop, digital photography, Flash, digital printmaking and more. Visit www.rochesterartech.com to register online; class size is limited.

Submissions for Rochester Artech 2009 will be accepted through March 2, juried by a panel of art faculty and professional artists, and the winning pieces will be displayed at Rochester ArtAwake. All entered pieces must include some digital element; categories include graphic design, photography, digital illustration, collage, printmaking, animation, digital video and 3-D installations.
