RIT Presents: Rochester’s New Energy Jazz Orchestra

Concert also features special performance by RIT Jazz Ensemble

Rochester’s New Energy Jazz Orchestra will present a free concert of original compositions and classical jazz repertory, 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 5 in Ingle Auditorium in the Student Alumni Union on the Rochester Institute of Technology campus. The concert will also feature a special performance by the RIT Jazz Ensemble, directed by Jonathan Kruger, RIT music professor.

New Energy is a Rochester-based big band ensemble co-directed by Kruger and Carl Atkins, RIT professor and director of the music program. The band has performed and recorded widely including appearances at the Rochester International Jazz Festival and the Monroe Community College Jazz Festival. They can also be heard on the CD Sands of Time.

The concert will also include original compositions by Atkins, Kruger and New Energy trombonist Dave Gibson. For more information contact Atkins at 475-4439.
