RIT’s English Language Center will celebrate its 30th anniversary during an open house at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14 on the first floor of the Eastman Building, near the Registrar’s Office.
The celebration will feature a variety of international food and a number of exhibits prepared by RIT international students to teach the community about their home countries. Many exhibitors will wear native dress. Visitors will learn about Japan, Libya, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and Rwanda.
“I hope visitors will become aware of the existence of the English Language Center. Even though we’ve been around for 30 years, many aren’t aware that we bring students here from overseas and they only study English before they begin their academic programs,” says Rhona Genzel, director of the English Language Center. “Others return to us as a resource as they work to improve their English skills.”
The open house concludes at 3:30 p.m.
