The Spring/Summer issue of Research at RIT has been released. The publication features research programs, projects and technology transfer happening on campus. The issue spotlights RIT’s efforts in the growing field of Bio-X, with features on research in biomedical engineering, biomedical imaging and the development of a new class of imaging detectors. The issue also includes a story on education and scholarship in social computing which is having a major impact on communication, business development and health care delivery.

“Bio-X is comprised of research initiatives in a host of biological, medical, engineering and computer science fields, areas RIT is uniquely positioned to excel in,” notes Donald Boyd, vice president of research and executive editor of Research at RIT. “This issue of the magazine highlights the faculty, student and staff projects in this emerging field, projects that will help put RIT at the forefront of Bio-X research.”

Boyd also points out that RIT’s recently announced strategic alliance with Rochester General Health System will assist the university in taking advantage of its current Bio-X capabilities while also allowing both RIT and Rochester General to advance the organizations’ educational and scholarship efforts in a host of medical fields.

“Our new partnership with Rochester General allows us to better leverage our research capabilities in Bio-X, and will help us take the next step in expanding our research and education offerings in medical imaging, biomedical engineering, telemedicine and health care policy.”

Research at RIT started in 2008 and has previously focused on RIT’s research efforts in imaging and sustainability. The magazine also highlights national and international awards garnered by RIT faculty and profiles several companies that have been launched through RIT’s Venture Creations business incubator.
