Friends and family are helping to raise funds for the national non-profit organization Children’s Organ Transplant Association in honor of a young member of the RIT family, Novalie Nguyen of Penfield, N.Y., who is in need of a life-saving heart transplant.
The 5-year-old is the daughter of Katherine Gatesman Nguyen ’94 (hospitality and service management) and granddaughter of Ann Hurley Gatesman ’61 (food administration) and Fred Gatesman ’65, ’85 (electrical engineering, materials science and engineering). Novalie’s uncle, great aunt, great uncle and several other extended family members are RIT graduates, and another relative, Carol Marchetti, is an associate professor in the School of Mathematical Sciences.
