Venture Creations, Rochester Institute of Technology’s high technology incubator, will showcase the resources and services available to area entrepreneurs and start-ups at an open house 2-5 p.m. Dec. 8.
The event, located at 125 Tech Park Drive, will feature current incubator participants discussing their experiences, as well as experts who can answer questions on how to begin the process of starting a business.
“Venture Creations is committed to assisting the region’s entrepreneurs in developing successful businesses, while also helping commercialize innovations developed by RIT faculty and students,” notes Jerome Mahone, the center’s director. “This event provides us with an opportunity to showcase our current companies and provide a better understanding to the public of the services we offer.”
Venture Creations was founded in 2006 and builds on RIT’s long history of collaboration with numerous businesses from sole proprietors to Fortune 500 companies. Currently, the center is home to almost 20 companies including dotSyntax, a software design firm created by RIT alum Steve Shapiro, and Liban Inc., a manufacturer of vehicle health-monitoring systems that grew out of research conducted by RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability.
It also houses the Clean Energy Incubator, a New York State Energy Research Development Authority-funded initiative designed to provide technical assistance and business development support to clean energy start-ups in the Rochester area.
The event is free and open to the public.
