Annual Auction Captures Spirit of Holiday Giving, Dec. 17

Event hosted by RIT’s School of Photographic Arts and Sciences, part of proceeds to ArtPeace

Competitive bidding for a cause is the theme of a holiday auction hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology’s School of Photographic Arts and Sciences.

Items up for bid include digital cameras, photographic equipment, inkjet printers, software, and restaurant and spa gift certificates. In addition to the live auction, faculty- and alumni-donated artwork will be offered in a silent auction.

Bidding starts at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, in the lobby of the Frank E. Gannett Building on RIT’s campus. The event is free and open to the public.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to ArtPeace, a Rochester-based charity that works with at-risk youths. The remainder of the money raised will benefit the RIT student organization Photo Arts Collective.

Students from Photo Arts Collective are coordinating the auction and have been working with area businesses to obtain items. Bill DuBois, chair of the new media program in the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences, reprises his role as auctioneer.

Free pizza and soft drinks will be served. For more information, call RIT’s School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at (585) 475-2884.
